A Leg fracture is a term for a fracture or break to the femur bone (Thigh bone). Leg fractures are most commonly seen in the younger population and are normally the result of high impact trauma like car or motorcycle accidents including a pedestrian being hit by a car and severe falls.
The trauma causes a very intense immediate sharp pain around the fracture site this pain can radiate up into the groin and down into the knee. The fracture is often accompanied by swelling and bruising and aggravated by most movements this makes weight bearing and walking excruciating.

A hip fracture is another term for a broken hip. It is a common injury that mainly affects older women who often have underlying bone weakness. Your hip can break in different places. A hip fracture can be intracapsular (within the joint capsule) or extracapsular (outside the joint capsule). Most people who have a hip fracture need an operation to fix the break in the bone. Whether your fracture is intracapsular or extracapsular will determine the exact treatment that the orthopaedic surgeon suggests. It is important that any underlying osteoporosis be evaluated after a hip fracture.
Pelvic Fracture - Broken Pelvis
A Pelvic fracture causes an immediate onset of extreme pain after high energy impact injuries such as car accidents, crush injuries and falls from a height. It commonly occurs in the elderly with osteoporosis and misdiagnosed as muscle pulls in teenage athletes. Pain will be accompanied by swelling and bruising around the pelvis.Pain is aggravated by most movements this makes weight bearing and walking excruciating. Any movement of the hip muscles may increase pain levels causing many people to adopt a curled up position with their knees and hips bent in a way that doesn't put any pressure on the pelvis.

Osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disorder that is also referred to as joint degeneration but you will probably have heard most people use the term "joint wear & tear".
Symptoms initially start as mild hip pain and stiffness. The pain is likely to feel generalized rather than a pin point pain location. Gradually as the joint becomes more and more degenerated the joint pain symptoms will be coupled by intense stiffness leading to severe stiffness and painful joint locking.
Lumbar Fracture - Broken Low Back
A lumbar fracture causes an immediate onset of extreme pain after sudden and violent trauma like falling from a height or high speed car accident. Pain will be accompanied by swelling and bruising at the back of the neck. The back will feel very weak and any movements will cause severe sharp pain and at rest the pain levels will fluctuate between the severe sharp pains to an intense ache. This pain will rapidly spread from the low back into the mid back, buttock and down into the legs. In some cases the leg pain will be accompanied by pins & needles, weakness, sensation changes or bowel & bladder changes.
